Audio induction loop systems – assisted listening and hearing devices

What cables can be used?

Induction loops can be installed using ordinary stranded cable of 0.5 to 4.0mm² depending on the application or by using flat copper tape stuck down with special adhesive tape (with a printed warning along its length). Direct burial in concrete requires a special cable that is compatible with concrete – this can be supplied by Ampetronic on request.

Cable data can be found here, and in our loop design guide. Installation accessories including copper tape can be found here .

Cables must be mechanically protected from damage. Typical damage would be from carpet fitters (using knives), from contractors drilling or cutting using slot saws, or environmental factors such as water, damp, heat or abrasion. Such hazards need to be thought about and designed out during the project planning stage.
